The Story of ‘There Skateboards’

Founded by artist, skateboarder, and musician Jeffrey Cheung in California, ‘There Skateboards’ is a collective aimed at supporting queer and trans skateboarders of colour, actively sponsoring various skaters such as Cher Strauberry and Marbie Miller. Having previously founded the skateboard company ‘Unity’ in 2017 with his partner, Jeffrey Cheung’s artistic style speaks toward the brands ethos, painting colourful, androgynous figures in an eccentric style that convey a variety of messages such as self-love and community. Jeffrey has collaborated with Adidas skateboarding in the past, and now his brand There Skateboards have revealed a special Nike SB Dunk via their Instagram account. Let’s get into the details below as well as taking a look at some of Cher Strauberry's skating highlights.

Details of the Nike SB Dunk Low x There Skateboards

The Nike SB line has some fire pairs this year such as the ‘Futura’ collaboration and recently released Dunk Low ‘Rayssa Leal’, but there are no signs of the skating line stopping, with the upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low x There Skateboards pair sure to be a smash hit. Only one image has released so far, but the pair looks to boast a dark green or grey base overlaid with lighter grey panels on the mudguard, sidewalls and heel area. White illustrations dress the overlays, adding a vibrant effect and interesting scope of detail, whilst forest green leather swooshes tie in well with the green outsole. The laces feature a silver dubrae, unclear of what it represents, but it’s a clean touch and is always a nice detail for a pair to sport some bling elements. The tongue tag sports a custom version of the traditional Nike SB logo, looking to be hand drawn, perhaps nodding to Jeffrey Cheung’s vibrant style of art.

When Are They Releasing?

Having only been shared on the ‘There Skateboards’ Instagram account (of which we have shared some of their deck designs above) yesterday, there are currently no further details available from neither Nike SB nor ‘There Skateboards’. However, whilst we await more information on the release, there is plenty of new Nike SB heat to shop on our website. We have linked some of our favourites below, so treat yourself in the meantime whilst we look forward to this sick pair coming to the market, hopefully soon!
